Employees are encouraged to report suspected fraud, waste, or abuse to the Internal Auditor.
If you believe violations of policies or ethical standards may have occurred, there are three different ways to make your concerns known:
- Tell a supervisor or the leadership of the department or unit. Southern Oregon University is committed to an environment where open, honest communications are the expectation, not the exception. Campus managers who receive notice of suspected or known fraud, waste, or abuse are required to report such matters to the Internal Auditor.
- Call 1-855-375-6776 or submit an online report through sou.ethicspoint.com. When employees do not feel comfortable discussing these matters directly with the Internal Auditor or campus management anonymous reports can be made through the fraud and ethics hotline, which is hosted by a third-party vendor, EthicsPoint.
Whistleblower Protection
Employees who identify themselves and make a good faith report of suspected fraud, waste, or abuse are protected from retaliation in accordance with university policy and state law. The Internal Auditor follows up on all reports made, including those made through the hotline. Information is kept confidential to the extent possible, consistent with the need to conduct an adequate investigation and in accordance with applicable law.
